Game Night Routine

Welcome » Game Night Routine

Arrival

·         Arrive on or before the designated time.

·         Arrive in full uniform.

·         At the sound of the whistle, quickly fall-in in the inspection block with music and equipment.

Inspection

Band members will be inspected for the following:

·         Proper wear, fit, and condition of the uniform (see Uniform Policy).

     Condition of Equipment

·         Brass instruments polished valves and slides working freely, mouthpiece cleaned, and lyre attached.

·         Woodwind reeds clean and without flaws, instrument clean, good pads, springs, corks, and music lyres attached.

·         Percussion drum heads cleaned, drum shells polished, cymbals polished, sticks and mallets properly taped and in good condition.

     Music

·         Music folders must be in good condition, properly labeled, and must contain necessary music.

·         Lyres attached to the instrument must hold the music folder.

     Inspection Decorum

·         Proper attention and parade rest will be checked.  There should be absolutely no movement or sound.

·         If asked a question by an inspector, add the appropriate title for that person to your response.

Arrival at the Game Site

·         Silently fall-in in the block formation.

·         Maintain attention, parade rest, or at ease as instructed until pre-game entry begins.

During the Game

·         There will be no variations from the proper wearing of the uniforms.

·         No food, drink, or gum is allowed while the band is in the bleachers, except times designated by the directors.

·         DO NOT PLAY your instrument unless the entire band is performing.  PERCUSSION IS TO PLAY ONLY WITH THE FULL BAND, on cheers, or during drum features authorized by the directors.

·         Stay seated or standing (whichever is directed) and hold on to your instruments.

Half-time

·         File orderly and silently from the stands to the assembly point before the performance.  Always move in a single-file.  Do not play instruments unless told to do so by the directors.

·         When waiting to take the field, maintain a strict attention or parade rest as instructed.

·         If given a break during the third quarter, you may visit the rest rooms and the concession stands, but do not go into any other section of the bleachers.  Wear the uniform properly, and return on time to your assigned position.

Bus Procedures

·         When buses are provided, all performers will ride the bus going to and from the event.  Exceptions to this rule require written personal requests by the parents prior to the event.  Even then, the final decision is left to the director and principal.

·         For football games, students may be assigned to a specific bus prior to departure.  Riding on a bus other than the one you are assigned is not permitted.  Students are required to obey the driver, chaperone, and student officer in charge.

·         The Sacramento City Unified School District prohibits loud talking, foul or abusive language, standing in the aisles, or sitting on the backs of the seats while on the busses.  Hands, feet, arms, legs and head must remain inside the bus.

·         No food is allowed on the busses unless provided by the directors.

·         Public displays of affection are not permitted on the bus.

·         On long bus trips, radios and tape players may used at the discretion of the sponsors and/or bus drivers.

·         Instruments and other equipment will be carried on the band bus and/ or band trailer.  The crew is not responsible for any equipment not placed in the loading area.  In short, every band member is responsible for his/her own instrument and equipment.
