1. No food, gum, or drink is allowed in the band facility, except at time designed by the director.
2. Student should not enter the band office without permission. The office telephones are not for student use.
3. Store your instruments in cases with latches closed and in your assigned slot when not n use.
4. Large instrument cases should be placed in slots during rehearsal.
5. Instrument slots should also be kept clean. Personal items my not be stored in slots during marching season. Personal items and books may not be left on the floor after rehearsals or performances. ITEMS NOT PROPERLY STORED WILL BE DISCARDED.
6. Personal items may not be stored in the music library, band office, practice rooms, or storage areas.
7. Band hall and chairs are not to be removed from the room unless requested by a director.
8. The band library is off limits to all band members, except librarians, officers, and band staff. These band members are allowed access to conduct band business.
9. Practice rooms are for practice, recording assignments, playoffs, and private lessons.
10. Periodic inspections will be made of school-owned instruments. The student is financially responsible for any damage that occurs to the equipment while it was issued to them.
11. Any damage to school property must be repaired, the item replaced, or a reimbursement made immediately.
12. The band department assumes no responsibility for personal items stored in the band hall.
Care of Music
1. Always use pencil, never ink, when marking music. All markings, except measure numbers or permanent corrections, must be erased when music is returned.
2. Write your folder number and initial every sheet of your marching/concert music.
3. Keep a pencil in your folder at all times.
4. Do not write on folders!!!
5. You will be charged for replacing music, flip folders, pouches, or concert music.
Uniform Policy
The Titan Band Uniform is something you should always wear with pride. Participation in the program and the use of the uniform that comes with it is a privilege.
The student will be responsible for the safe return of these items at the end of the year. The director reserves the right to issue and collect the uniforms before each game.
Issuance
Uniforms will normally be issued during the second week of camp. Any uniform part that is lost or damaged is your responsibility to replace. All band members will be issued a full uniform.
Uniforms will be checked out to students in the following order:
1. Seniors and “hard-to-fit” students
2. Juniors
3. Sophomores
4. Freshmen
Wearing of the Uniform
1. The helmet should be worn straight on top of the head with the strap worn snug under the chin. Hair extended below the collar will be worn inside the helmet. Plumes should be issued immediately before each marching performance and collected immediately following.
2. The coat should be worn completely fastened at all times when in public unless otherwise specified by the directors. The band shirt is to be worn under the coat, which allows the band to have a uniformed appearance if the coat is removed during hot weather.
3. The trousers should be worn above the waist. The bottom hem should be 1 inch to 1-1/2 inches from the ground when wearing band shoes.
4. Shoes are to be kept clean and polished. Only black shoes and tube socks are to be worn with the marching uniform.
5. The sash should be worn on the right shoulder.
6. Suspenders are to be worn over the shoulders. No other variation will be tolerated.
7. The gantlets are worn snapped with the buttons facing out.
Uniform Decorum
There will be no variation from the proper wearing of the uniform unless specified by the directors. Sunglasses, hats, and headbands are not appropriate.
If you are allowed to keep the uniform at home, dry-clean it regularly, especially if it becomes wet or soiled. You must pay for all cleaning. However, if uniforms are stored at school, they will be cleaned all together on a regular basis, with fee assessed.
The uniforms must be hung after each performance.
Memorize your uniform numbers. Do not exchange parts of your uniform with another band member.
Arrive at the band hall or designated meeting place before performances in full uniform unless uniforms are issued at the band hall.
Do not wear bracelets, necklaces, or unnecessary jewelry. Gold, stud earrings may be worn.
If you lose, damage, or have any problem with your uniform, see the directors as soon as possible.
NO UNIFORM PARTS WILL BE ISSUED PRIOR TO INSPECTIONS.
Unless uniforms are turned in after inspection, uniform parts left in the band hall after performances will be confiscated.
