• Marching Band

The Titan Marching Band is the largest performing group at Luther Burbank High School.  The band performs at all varsity home football games, two parades, two contests, and an array of school related performances.  The marching band is open to any student who passes a proficiency audition.  Auditions are usually held in the spring.

Once a student has been accepted into the marching band, he/she must pass a series of playing tests and maintain passing grades in order to qualify for marching performances.  Students who do not meet necessary criteria will be assigned to the alternate squad until all criteria are met.

Rehearsal Schedule for Marching Band

Summer band camp normally begins the first week of August and continues until school starts.  The purpose of the camp is to build comradeship within the band as well as to sharpen playing and marching skills.  The camp may be held at a remote facility or on our campus.

• Beginning Band

Beginning Band is designed for the student who has the aspiration to learn to play a musical instrument.  The instrument may be chosen from one of three instrumental families, woodwind, brass, or percussion.  The band director reserves the right to encourage students to perform instruments that would meet the immediate needs of the band program.

• Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble is made up of the most musically and technically advanced students.  Membership is determined by audition and overall performance history.  Members of the Wind Ensemble are encouraged to participate in SCUSD Honor Band, Solo-Ensemble Contest, and private study.

• Jazz Band

The Jazz Band is made up of students interested in broadening their knowledge in the area of improvisation and jazz theory.  Auditions are usually held in the spring for fall scheduling.
